THE PROGRAM

The GROB apprenticeship program is an opportunity to learn an in-demand trade, earn a debt-free college degree, and start your career at a world-class machine tool manufacturer - all while being paid! No experience in manufacturing? None needed! The combination of GROB's in-house training program and your college classes will prepare you to become a highly-skilled mechanical or electrical technician at GROB in just two years.

Year 1

  • Basic Training for the first 18 weeks to determine which path (mechanical or electrical) you will pursue.
  • The first year is spent in the Apprenticeship Training Area further developing your technical skills in either mechanical or electrical work. This includes hands-on projects and classroom curriculum taught by our GROB Training Instructors.

Year 2

  • Rotate through various departments across GROB working and learning alongside experienced employees
  • Learn the skills needed to be successful in each department
  • Discover what areas interest you the most to help find your ideal department placement

Year 3 & 4

  • After graduating from Rhodes State College, you will be placed into our regular workforce in a specific department.
  • Continue to accrue on-the-job training hours, which goes towards your state-recognized Journeyperson's card.
  • In Year 4 you will receive your Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship issued by the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor. This journeyperson card will certify you as an Industrial Machinist System Technician.
