Apprentice (2027 Class)
Bluffton, OH, US, Bluffton,
The Apprenticeship Program at GROB is the first step toward a rewarding career in the skilled trades. Designed to build our future workforce from within, the program combines hands-on training, education, and on-the-job experience to prepare apprentices for careers as mechanical or electrical technicians at GROB. Throughout the program, apprentices learn from dedicated training staff in our apprenticeship labs and gain practical experience working alongside skilled technicians on the plant floor. Apprentices also earn a company-paid associate degree in Engineering Technology through Rhodes State College.
The program begins with a Basic Training period that introduces apprentices to both the mechanical and electrical career pathways. This foundational training helps determine each apprentice’s best fit based on company needs, demonstrated ability, and individual preference. Mechanical apprentices will develop skills in areas such as machining, assembly, print reading, and related manufacturing processes. Electrical apprentices will learn electrical systems, wiring, PLC programming, and other electrical technologies.
Apprentices are also enrolled in GROB’s Registered Apprenticeship Program, in cooperation with the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council, for the occupation of Industrial Machinist System Technician. Successful completion of 4,000 hours of on-the-job training and 720 hours of Related Instruction at Rhodes leads to a journeyperson certification.
