Field Service Mechanical Technician

Join our team as a Field Service Mechanical Technician, where you’ll support machine installations and service calls at customer sites. You’ll handle mechanical assembly, start-up, and troubleshooting of CNC machines and assembly equipment, ensuring compliance with GROB specifications. Extensive travel on short notice is required.

We are looking for support at the following locations in the US: Michigan: Marshall and Bay City; South Carolina: Gray Court; Georgia: Covington and Augusta; Illinois: Normal; Indiana: Kokomo.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assemble and start up CNC machines and assembly equipment

  • Troubleshoot mechanical errors and resolve issues promptly

  • Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings

  • Utilize precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, indicators, micrometers)

  • Follow tool layouts and NC code (G-code, M-functions)

  • Respond quickly to customer installations and emergency service calls

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma (minimum)

  • Experience: CNC machining or machine building experience preferred, Familiarity with assembly equipment and robotic cells is a plus

  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of metric systems, Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot effectively

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site

  • Working experience: 2 years of relevant experience preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Must be willing and able to travel frequently, often on short notice

  • Work Environment: Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Communication: Strong communication skills in an international setting

  • Overtime: Willingness to work overtime when necessary to meet project deadlines or customer needs

  • Passport: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid passport for potential international travel
